Games and Simulations

CliffGrantWhat are games? What are simulations? What are the similarities and differences between them? Can you tell one apart from another? Are games just a 4-letter word? How do you know if you learned anything inside a game or simulation?

As part of a graduate course this past summer, we tackled these topics and more. We brought in experts from across the country to discuss these topics. But we can’t cover it all in a WERN meeting. At the WERN meeting, we’ll take a look at classifications and genres of games and simulations, and we’ll also go a little further to look at how we can measure assessment within games and simulations. We’ll examine the continuum that exists with game development and attempt to reach consensus about where you and your organization can start. We hope you’ll join us.
